What does “Armageddon” mean and what is the Battle of Armageddon really about? Some seem to think it is another name for World War III. No matter what “Armageddon” means outside of the Bible, for certain, it is what the Bible actually says about it that really matters. So let us consider the actual Bible verses about “Armageddon” - along with its biblical definition and the ensuing battle.
First consider these verses:
The word “Armageddon” is found only once in the Bible in Revelation 16:16 as above. In the traditional view, “Armageddon” comes from “Har Mageddon.” At the very end of this Age, a battle will ensue between Satan, along with his demons and human allies, against God and His heavenly armies, which has come to be commonly called the Battle of Armageddon. In Revelation 16:14 it is called “the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
So what does “Armageddon” mean as referenced in Revelation 16:16?
“Har Mageddon” is explained in most Bible dictionaries as follows:
Naturally, there are many ideas about what is meant in Revelation 16:12-16 when referencing Armageddon, but for now we are considering the traditional view.
Here is a picture of Mount Megiddo as it overlooks the valley (or plain as it is sometimes called) of Jezreel.
First consider these verses:
- Revelation 16:12-16 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. "Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame." And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon."

So what does “Armageddon” mean as referenced in Revelation 16:16?
“Har Mageddon” is explained in most Bible dictionaries as follows:
- Harmagedōn of Hebrew origin (har) and (Megiddown)]; Armageddon (or Har-Megiddon), a symbolical name - Armageddon.
- Har is a shorter form of harar; a mountain or range of hills (sometimes used figurative) - hill (country), mount (-ain), a promotion.
- Megiddo or Megiddown, or Megiddow comes from gadad meaning rendezvous/assemble; Megiddon or Megiddo is a place in Israel: Mount Megiddo.
- Gadad means to crowd; also to gash (as if by pressing into), assemble (selves by troops), gather (selves together, self in troops), to cut their own selves.
Naturally, there are many ideas about what is meant in Revelation 16:12-16 when referencing Armageddon, but for now we are considering the traditional view.
Here is a picture of Mount Megiddo as it overlooks the valley (or plain as it is sometimes called) of Jezreel.
It seems incredibly appropriate that “gadad” is part of the meaning of “Harmageddon” in the manner of “assembling and gathering as in troops” and also in “gashing” as “by pressing into” for it is truly “suicide” to come against God. Some examples of “previous mistakes” of “coming against God” can be found in Joshua 10:8-11, Judges 7:19-22, 1 Samuel 14:20 and 2 Chronicles 20:14-24. In these scripture references, the people (and the devils that were with them), all made the same mistake of coming against God and in the course of losing, many even “turned on each other” to their own demise. There is no doubt that the enemy will commit suicide once again attempting to battle against God at the Battle of Armageddon; only this time it will happen again in the most monumental way ever.
Mt. Carmel also overlooks the plain or valley of Jezreel where Mt. Megiddo is. Long ago, the prophet Elijah challenged the evil prophets of Baal to a stand-off and when the evil prophets lost, it cost them their lives. Elijah slew the 450 prophets of Baal at the Kishon Valley which is connected to the Valley of Jezreel (1 Kings 18:1-40). This victory is small compared to the dramatic victory that will happen at the coming battle at Armageddon. Just as the devil and his prophets of Baal met their demise near Mount of Megiddo, so Satan and his forces will meet their demise also.
This battle happens at the very end of the 7 year period, commonly called the 7 Years of Tribulation (for more understanding about the last 7 years of this age, see the article, The Mystery Of The 70 Weeks Of Years.
The Bible talks about this global battle which will be the last battle of this age and it will definitely be between good and evil.
From these verses in Revelation 16:13-14, we see who is on the enemy side: the dragon (Satan), the beast (the Antichrist), the false prophet, the kings of the earth and the whole world are gathered together for it.
The following verses also speak of “10 of these kings” of the earth. Please read them carefully or fresh again even if you have read them many times.
These verses in Revelation 17:12-16 are often mistaken to be all about the "Battle of Armageddon” when in reality they are saying that “the kings that join in with the beast (the Antichrist)” to destroy the great harlot (burn her with fire and make her desolate), and are the same kings that come against the Lord (at Armageddon), whereupon the Lord comes with His called, chosen and faithful ones that will be riding with Him (Revelation 17:14). But the destruction of the great harlot, the city of iniquity that the devil will have used for his purposes and which will have chosen the beast as their messiah, is not part of the Battle of Armageddon.
It is actually the purpose of the Lord to have the wicked ones destroy the unholy city and He will not be out to stop it. This certainly verifies the two very different circumstances. In the verses above and in the two verses following, it we see in Revelation 17:16-18 written “And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."
It is easy to understand the confusion of “the destruction of the great harlot” of mystery Babylon with “the Battle of Armageddon” but if one will only consider all the verses involved (which are posted in this article), it can be clearly seen to be two separate events.
So let us look at what we can know of the Lord and His army in this battle.
In Revelation 19, we see those in heaven rejoicing over the destruction of the great harlot of Babylon (Revelation 19:1-3) and everyone there also rejoicing that everyone has arrived for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:4-9). And then we see the Lord getting ready for the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming:
We can see “who” comes with the Lord for the battle by the previous verses of Revelation 17:14b: “...for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” And above we see in Revelation 19:14 “And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.” Collectively we see that those coming with the Lord are called, chosen, faithful, clothed in white, clean, linen garments which shows that they are: born-again Christians! This also confirms Revelation 20:6 which speaks of who will be with Christ for the 1000-year-reign which begins at the Second Coming of the Lord.
The following verses show how the Lord will be coming to rid this earth of the evil ones.
The verses of Revelation 19:17-18 and Revelation 19:15 directly correlate with the second harvest of Revelation 14. The first harvest is for the born-again children of God and the second harvest is commonly called the harvest of the grapes of wrath.
Many people get caught up in thinking only about the first harvest, which is the rapture. But there is also the second harvest which will be the demise of the wicked.
The Lord is coming to judge and make war to clean the earth of the wicked ones (Revelation 19:11). The devil will be preparing his armies (and rallying the whole earth) to try to stop the Lord's coming (the Second Coming) and save himself.
And we can see that God even has the 6th angel of the bowls of wrath, accommodate their gathering together for the battle.
Where will "the actual Battle" of Armageddon take place?
Many simply believe that the evil ones will gather at Mount Megiddo and that the battle will also take place there. Others believe that the evil ones will gather there but the actual battle will take place at Jerusalem or near the Mount of Olives where the Lord is expected to come back to according to Zechariah 14:3-4. And still others think the gathering of the evil ones and the battle will all take place at the Valley of Jehoshaphat as this article will explain. In our view, it is most likely that the enemy assembles their troops at Megiddo and then attempt to prevent the Second Coming as the Lord descends from heaven to the Mount of Olives.
Next we will consider some non-traditional thoughts.
There are some that believe “Armageddon” did not get translated quite right; that it really means “mount of assembly” and in no way has anything to do with the physical Mount Megiddo and that the term, “Harmageddon” is merely symbolic. Thus symbolically meaning the rising up, the assembling of the enemies of God. Some of those that follow this line of thinking, believe that a battle does happen but at the Valley of Jehoshaphat due to the following verses.
Where is the Valley of Jehoshaphat? Some say that it is only a modern term for the Kidron valley that lies between the Mount of Olives and Jerusalem. Are the verses literal or allegorical in Joel 3:12-14? The name “Jehoshaphat” means “Yahweh (Jehovah) judges.”
We do not follow the train of thought that the Battle of Armageddon happens at the Valley of Jehoshaphat, which is considered to be the place by some, but we can understand why they might think so. The Lord comes in Judgment at the rapture and brings His throne (Matthew 25:31,26:63-64, Mark 14:61-61, Revelation 6:16). Thrones are for sitting on. And it is clear in Ezekiel and Revelation that the throne of the Lord is portable! Many see the rapture as just escapism but by the time it happens, it will be utter deliverance for Christians, a great harvest for the Lord and the beginning of God's wrath for the wicked.
Somehow many seem to not realize the timing of what happens in these verses in Matthew.
In reality, whether one believes in a pre, mid or post tribulation rapture, most would agree that God only has to separate the sheep from the goats once. The rapture is the harvest of the sheep He takes home and the goats are left behind. The judgment on the living goats begins at the rapture but all the goats will meet their final demise at the Great White Throne of Judgment (more can be read on this subject in the article, Judgment Day And Great White Throne Of Judgment and if it seems strange to one that a Bible verse can speak of two events in one sentence and not be completely simultaneous, please consider the article, Considerations For Real Revelation Understanding).
So as the judgment of the Lord upon the lost will begin at the rapture, it will continue with the seven trumpets and seven bowls of judgment and wrath, all the way through to Armageddon with the grapes of wrath being crushed and destroyed in the winepress of God. Perhaps the sickle is thrown at the rapture (or perhaps “at or near” Armageddon) and concludes with the destruction of all the wicked at the conclusion of the Battle of Armageddon. In realizing the bigger picture, these next verses become more understandable:
Sometimes people forget or do not seem to realize that there is a heavenly Zion and a heavenly Jerusalem and when the Lord comes for His people at the rapture He is coming like a lion from the heavenly Zion and Jerusalem. Once the Second Coming of the Lord happens, He will establish His headquarters on earth at the earthly and redeemed Mt. Zion and Jerusalem.
Some say verses such as Joel 3:15 are Armageddon or the Second Coming, but in our view, we see them in a broader sense. “God's judgment and wrath” begin at the rapture and temporarily concludes for the Millennium and then will have a grand finale with the loosing of Satan at the end of the 1000 years and one last battle ending with the final demise of old slew-foot and all who will choose to go with him. And finally there will be the end of sin and evil with the passing away of the old earth and universe and the Great White Throne of Judgment and all evil will be put away forever! Praise God there will be a glorious new universe and earth with the Holy City of heaven coming down to this new earth and it can be read about in Revelation chapters 21 and 22!
Additionally, it is a common mistake to take verses about the sun and moon going dark and even the stars failing to give their light as only Second Coming verses. Matthew 24:1-51, Mark 13:1-37, Luke 17:20-37 and Luke 21:5-36 make it very clear that at the rapture, the sun and the moon go dark and atmosphere rolls back (or up) like a scroll giving way to the glory of the Lord's appearance.
He sends His angels at the sound of a trumpet at the rapture and He gathers His people. How many times would the Lord need to gather His people? There is only one rapture. And He does not need to call up the 144,000 at the end of the 7 years because they will stay through the Millennium.
This is confirmed with other Scripture.
The Lord will gather His people alive on earth and He will bring with Him those who have preceded the living and all will get their new glorified bodies at the same time, as it is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17: “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."
These verses are all for Christians that will go up to be with the Lord at the rapture. At Armageddon and the Second Coming, Christians are coming back with the Lord and not being gathered unto Him. Realizing the truth of these verses will set anyone free from much of the erroneous teaching that the devil has infiltrated the church with. For more Bible verses that show how true these concepts are, see the articles, As A Thief In The Night and Every Eye Will See Him.
Just a note here about the concept that says the book of Revelation is in complete chronological order. These verses about the Battle of Armageddon are a wonderful example of how wrong that concept is. Just look and see how far apart the Armageddon verses are and how much other information and events are written about in-between. The writer of the book, John was interrupted at various times by angels and visions. He also stopped at various times to prophesy or bring out more on certain subjects.
In conclusion, there are many verses that we all have a hard time understanding. And while it has been said many times before, it is important to say again, “what we do not know, we simply do not know but what is clear we can know for sure.” We all see in part and can only know the truth in measure and as the Lord reveals it. There will be a final battle at the End of this Age as the Lord Jesus comes to crush the enemies of the Kingdom of God and take this earth back for His Second Coming. We have laid out our views here in black and white but each one of us must find the truth for ourselves. Please consider the Scriptures and let the Holy Spirit lead and guide you into all truth.

These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful." Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.”
- Revelation 19:11-16 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
- Revelation 19:17-21 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great." And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.
The verses of Revelation 19:17-18 and Revelation 19:15 directly correlate with the second harvest of Revelation 14. The first harvest is for the born-again children of God and the second harvest is commonly called the harvest of the grapes of wrath.
- Revelation 14:17-20 Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe." So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses' bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.

Come, go down; for the winepress is full, the vats overflow-- for their wickedness is great." Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.”

And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.”
In reality, whether one believes in a pre, mid or post tribulation rapture, most would agree that God only has to separate the sheep from the goats once. - Joel 3:15-18 The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will diminish their brightness. The Lord also will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; the heavens and earth will shake; [rapture] but the Lord will be a shelter for His people [He will seal the 144,000], and the strength of the children of Israel. "So you shall know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. [the 1000-year-reign begins] Then Jerusalem shall be holy, and no aliens shall ever pass through her again." And it will come to pass in that day that the mountains shall drip with new wine, the hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; a fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord and water the Valley of Acacias.
Sometimes people forget or do not seem to realize that there is a heavenly Zion and a heavenly Jerusalem and when the Lord comes for His people at the rapture He is coming like a lion from the heavenly Zion and Jerusalem. Additionally, it is a common mistake to take verses about the sun and moon going dark and even the stars failing to give their light as only Second Coming verses. - Matthew 24:29-31 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
- Mark 13:14-27 "So when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not" (let the reader understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter. For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days. Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, He is there!' do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. But take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand. "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.”
- Luke 21:25-28 "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
THE BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON BIBLE VERSES
Bible verses pertaining to Battle of Armageddon with light commentary.
Notice John put a special warning here from the Lord. He is saying, do not be part of this and have an evil fate. He is saying choose right and keep clean before God and do not be a part of the demise of the evil one.
Notice He, the Lamb is not alone. He comes with the armies of heaven.
When Jesus comes at the rapture, it is with clouds and even His throne. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess then, that Jesus Christ is Lord. It will be the beginning of Judgment. At that point, the 144,000 will have to be sealed to protect them from the judgment and wrath of God that comes in the form of the seven bowls and trumpets. If one will go and read the beginning the chapter here (Revelation 19:1-10), one will see the Marriage Supper of the Lamb had been going on and concluding with Jesus leaving and bringing the armies of heaven with Him to put down the dragon (Satan), the beast (Antichrist), their false prophet and the kings and evil ones of earth that will have rallied to battle against the Lord.
The last part of verse above is part of the harvest of the grapes of wrath as shown in the next verses.
Notice it says, “outside the city.” Whatever city it is, it is not likely to be on Mt. Megiddo, which is just a hill or mount of archaeological ruins and due to being a designated historical site, it is not likely that any city will ever be there. However, due to some other verses and thoughts, many believe that while the evil ones will “gather at Megiddo” - they will eventually move toward Jerusalem. This battle most likely is an attempt by Satan to prevent the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the 1000 year reign to come.
Other verses that reference the demise of the evil ones at Armageddon or as John wrote, “the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
This is clearly referencing the battle with the evil ones and what happens when the enemy tries to thwart the Second Coming of the Lord.
Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame." And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.
Notice John put a special warning here from the Lord. He is saying, do not be part of this and have an evil fate. He is saying choose right and keep clean before God and do not be a part of the demise of the evil one.
- Revelation 17:12-16 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.”
Notice He, the Lamb is not alone. He comes with the armies of heaven.
- Revelation 19:11-18 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. He Himself treads the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great."

- Revelation 19:19-21 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
The last part of verse above is part of the harvest of the grapes of wrath as shown in the next verses.

- 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
- Daniel 8:25 "Through his cunning He shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule; and he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. He shall even rise against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without human means.”
- Daniel 2:40-45 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others. Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold--the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.
- Psalms 2:1-12 Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us." He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion." "I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, 'You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.' " Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
- Zechariah 14:3-4 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south.
